Gentle Yoga Therapy with Ron

The focus of my Private Yoga Therapy Classes is to make Yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of age or physical condition. I particularly like to work with Beginning Yoga students and students in need of physical rehabilitation. I have extensive experience in working with individuals who have had joint replacements. The major benefit of Private Yoga Therapy is that it allows you to focus on your own unique needs, without competition, and for many it is other the beginning of creating their own Private Yoga Practice. What is Yoga Therapy? Private Yoga/Yoga Therapy consists of a combination of: Physical postures: Simple yoga postures that gently stretch and strengthen muscles, improving mobility, flexibility, respiration, circulation, digestion and elimination. These consist of both simple movements and held postures, which promote a general sense of health and well being. Breathing Techniques: Yoga breathing exercises can be practiced anywhere and at any time. Awareness of the breath is central to all forms of yoga and promotes calmness, helping to focus the mind, and relieving stress and mental fatigue. Relaxation Methods: Learning how to relax is a central element of Yoga Therapy. Relaxation is the body’s way of recharging, and helps to ease physical and mental tension. Relaxation techniques encourage us to step back and look objectively at our habitual patterns of behavior, helping us to cope better with situations that put our body and mind under strain. Will Yoga Therapy Work for Me ? Private Yoga Therapy can help a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, asthma, cancer, diabetes, depression, digestion issues, high blood pressure, HIV and AIDS, Low Back Pain, sports injuries and women’s health problems. Private Yoga starts with very simple exercises. You can begin to practice yoga and benefit right away, even if you have never done yoga before. Commencing with stretching and breathing exercises, students gradually progress in stages to a working knowledge of yoga postures (asana's), breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation practices. Yoga Therapy retains the ancient principles of yoga, and works holistically at all levels of the mind and body. Although clients may start Private Yoga with the specific intention of solving their health problems, they will find that they benefit also in many other ways. Indeed, Yoga Therapy is most effective when a holistic approach is adopted. These private classes are recommended for all levels. If you have serious health issues, you may want to consult your health professional before taking Yoga Therapy. Making Space When you decide to conduct private lessons in your home, you should clear a comfortable, clean, airy, uncluttered space that will accommodate two yoga mats. The space should be free of distractions including pets, and telephones. What to wear? Wear something loose-fitting that will allow you to move freely and that also allow me to observe your movement. Mat/Props I can provide these props for our first lessons as necessary. Eventually you will want to purchase a good-quality yoga mat for your personal practice. Injuries/Conditions We will discuss any recent or past injuries that may prevent you from doing certain poses or that may require pose modifications.

Raw Food Protein Sources - Where Do I Get My Protein on a Raw Food Diet?

When I started on my raw foods journey in 2005 one of the most frequently asked questions from family and friends was “where do you get your protein?” Now I hardly ever get this question; however, recently my sister expressed that she still has concern about my protein needs. It was then I realized how important this question really is and, as a health advocate, it is my responsibility to fully explain this topic to those who are interested or concerned. Here is my report…

First, let’s talk about what protein is…

Our body consists primarily of water. The second most abundant building block of our body is protein. Our hair, skin, nails, organs, muscles, bones, and every single cell is made up of protein molecules. All protein molecules consist of a chain of amino acids. You may have heard the term “essential amino acids” - these are amino acids that cannot be synthesized by our human body. To date we know of 9 essential amino acids humans must include in their diet to receive their full protein requirement. When you get down to it, all plants have at least some protein because all plants have at least one or more amino acids - the building blocks of protein.

The difference between complex proteins found in meat, dairy, and fish and the individual amino acids found in plant food is explained very well by Victoria Boutenko in her book “Green for Life:”

“It is clear that the body has to work a lot less when creating protein from the assortment of individual amino acids from greens, rather than the already combined, long molecules from protein, assembled according to the foreign patterns of a totally different creature such as a cow or a chicken. . .

“Imagine that you have to make a wedding dress for your daughter. Consuming the complex proteins that we get from cows or other creatures is like going to the second hand store, and buying many other people’s used dresses, coming home and spending several hours ripping apart pieces of the dresses that you like and combining them into a new dress for your daughter. This alternative will take a lot of time and energy and will leave a great deal of garbage. you could never make a perfect dress this way.

“Consuming individual amino acids is like taking your daughter to a fabric store to buy beautiful new fabric, lace, buttons, ribbons, threads, and pearls. With these essential elements you can make a beautiful dress that fits her unique body perfectly.

“Similarly, when you eat greens, you ‘purchase’ new amino acids, freshly made by sunshine and chlorophyll, which the body will use to rebuild its parts according to your own unique DNA.

“Contrary to this, your body would have a hard time trying ...

Arnica Herbal Remedy

Herbal Arnica
Some medical advisers, like consultant pharmacist Kevin Leivers of the UK, have been recommending herbal gel for muscle soreness. An herbal gel may contain anywhere from 1 to 25 percent plant extract, much more than any homeopathic remedy. In a 2002 study (Kneusel, Weber, and Sutter) on osteoarthritis joint neck pain, herbal gel had notable success in reducing pain and stiffness. Furthermore, herbal gel presents a testable mechanism of action.

Arnica contains helenalin and related compounds, which are known to be involved in anti-inflammatory action. The concentration of in gels is much higher than in homeopathic remedies and thought, by some researchers, to be a viable explanation for an anti-inflammatory response.

Herbal preparations are not the same as the homeopathic medicines made from the plant. In fact, they are very different. In herbal form, the amount of plant extract is substantially higher. Homeopathic remedies in fact contain only trace amounts of any active ingredient. While Homeopathic products can be taken internally. Herbal products should NEVER be ingested, and in my opinion are BEST for localized healing pain relief. Herbal form is restricted to topical (external) use only!

Whether used as Gel, Ointment or as Cream - herbal products are either with a tincture of (alcohol base) or a CO2 extracted essential oil. The potency or strength of the product will vary by manufacturer.

For Natural Joint Pain Relief: Use maximum strength 25x herbal remedy for healing of aches, arthritis & bursitis, injuries, bruises and inflammation. Relieve back muscle and joint pain naturally.

The strongest most effective Herbal product at relieving pain and inflammation I have ever found is Clinical Strength Arnica Gel.
